In 1995 the Atlanta Jamaican Association established a scholarship program to provide
financial assistance to university bound graduating High School Seniors of Jamaican
parentage and who are living in Atlanta. The eligibility requirements were subsequently
widened to include first and second year students who hold F-I visas and are pursuing
studies at tertiary institutions here. Since the inception of the program, thirty-three
scholarships have been awarded. An important initiative began three years ago when
the Tropical Sports Club became a partner of AJA in this program. The Club has provided
one of the scholarships every year since. The Atlanta Jamaican Association welcomes
this significant development and is ready similarly to join with others.

The Atlanta Jamaican Association has launched a drive to acquire a
building initially to house its meetings and provide limited recreational facilities.
The plan envisages the acquisition of premises capable of expansion to accommodate
all its activities. A building Fund has already been established and details of
two specific fund- raising activities will shortly be released. The Executive Board
is hereby appealing to members, well-wishers and friends of the Association to contribute
to the Fund. The aim is to raise a total of 300,000.00 by year end.
