AJA Celebrates 30 years
Atlanta, Ga. – 2007 – The AJA will be hosting a Special
Town Hall Meeting at the Hillside Presbyterian Church
Fellowship Hall 1879 Columbia Drive, Decatur, Georgia on
Saturday June 9, 2007 at 7pm. Congressman Hank Johnson
will be the keynote speaker. Come out in your numbers to
hear his thought as well as answers to your burning
questions on issues pertaining to our community.
Refreshments will be served.
About AJA
The Atlanta Jamaican Association (AJA), founded in 1977 is a non-profit organization
with 501 (4) status under the Internal Revenue Service Code.
The broad objectives of the Association as set out by the founders are to provide
specified services to the Jamaican community in Metro Atlanta, to promote unity
friendship and understanding between Jamaicans and the greater Atlanta community,
to acquire a building to call home and to keep abreast of social and economic developments
in Jamaica and assist where possible. Recently the AJA incorporated a wholly owned
subsidiary entity with 501(c) (3) status under the Internal Revenue Service Code.
This entity, called the AJ Cultural and Educational Fund Inc. was established for
charitable and educational purposes. It is intended to enable the Association to
pursue some of its objectives more effectively. Any contributions it receives are
tax deductible.
The association started with 32 founding members and today has over 400 on register.
