AJA Scholarship Fund

The AJA is a non-profit Organization that was founded in 1977 to promote friendship, unity, and understanding between the peoples of Jamaica and the United States. As part of this effort, a scholarship program was established to assist college-bound high school and undergraduate students of Jamaican ancestry.

To qualify for financial assistance, each candidate is required to submit an application as well as an essay on a selected topic of relevance to Jamaica. The following is the topic for this year:

After 50 years of independence, the Government of Jamaica is considering removing the Queen as Head of State. Discuss the benefits of this constitutional change.

Essays and other application materials will be assessed and the most impressive applicants will be invited to an interview with members of the AJA Education Committee. Award recipients will be notified by the middle of July.

The Application form, Agreement (both attached), Transcript, and Essay should be mailed (postmarked) no later than May 1, 2012 to the following address:

Scholarship Committee Atlanta Jamaican Association P.O. Box 2207 Lithonia, GA 30058

Thanks for your support in this endeavor.
Sincerely,

Joy-Marie Boothe - Education Committee Chairperson
