Derrick L. Harvey
President
Derrick worked as the first bookkeeper for the founders of Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream
Company in New York and New Jersey upon his arrival to the USA . He was transferred
to Atlanta to be the Managing Director of the first corporately owned distribution
center. During the next fifteen years, Derrick was the Business Manager and Administrator
for a Medical Center in Atlanta - he also started his own private accounting and
consulting company.
He attended Monroe College in New York City , majoring in Computer Science, but
ultimately his transfer to Atlanta resulted in the move to Kennesaw State University
where he completed studies in Management Accounting. Derrick has worked as a Chief
Financial Officer, Tax Practitioner, Small Business Consultant, Corporate Accountant,
and currently Corporate HR/AP manager for a local family-owned company.
Derrick has been a member of the Atlanta Jamaican Association, Inc. since 1999 and
was elected that year as the treasurer. He served as the treasurer until he was
elected President in October 2000 and served until September 2003. His priority
is to maintain involvement with the church, his family, and other community
organizations.
Derrick is currently residing in Marietta, Georgia and is married with three children.

Errol Ritchie |
Errol Ritchie
Vice President
Errol is currently President of Tropic Products
International, Inc., located in Stone Mountain, a
major distributor of Caribbean products to
wholesalers and retailers in the Southeast United
States. He worked as an Analyst with Alcan Jamaica
Limited at their Kirk vine Works in Jamaica before
taking up residence abroad. Here in the United
States, he worked as a Senior Systems Analyst with
Pitney Bowes of Stamford, Connecticut and as a
Financial Consultant with IBM, before starting his
own business.
A graduate of Munro College in Jamaica, Errol
holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) Degree in Business
Administration from the University of Western
Ontario, Canada, and a Masters Degree in Business
Administration with a major in Finance and
International Business from Columbia University, New
York. He was an avid hockey player and was a member
of the Jamaica National Hockey squad in 1974.
He is married to Evora (nee Pearson) and has
three children Errol Jr., Elizabeth and Cornel.

Karlene Duncan |

Karlene was born in St. Andrew, Jamaica to A.C. and Lena Williams, AJA members since 1998. After graduating from St. Hugh’s High School in Kingston, she migrated to the United States, where she attended the University of Houston (BBA-Finance) and Prairie View A&M University (MBA-Finance). While at the University of Houston, she served as President of the Caribbean Students Organization, Secretary of the International Students Organization, and President of the campus chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
After graduating from the university, Karlene continued to serve the Caribbean and Jamaican communities in Houston through active participation in local organizations, including:
- 1993 to 1994 Secretary – Jamaican Association of Greater Houston
- 1993 to 1997 Board member – Houston Caribbean Festival, Inc.
- 1995 to 1997 Treasurer – Houston Caribbean Festival, Inc.
- 1995 to 1997 Volunteer Coordinator – Houston Caribbean Festival, Inc.
- 1998 to 2000 Membership Committee Chairperson – Jamaican Association of Greater Houston
- 2005 to 2006 Asst. Secretary – Jamaica Foundation of Houston
- 2006 to 2007 Treasurer – St. Luke the Evangelist Episcopal Church; Houston, Texas
- 2007 March of Dimes Team Leader – Bank of America; Houston, Texas
Professionally, she has been employed as Operations Manager/Registered Rep with Duncan Private Wealth Management LLC, Senior Credit Analyst with Washington Mutual, and Portfolio Management Administrator with Bank of America where she is currently employed. An active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Atlanta, Karlene has been a Henry County resident since December 2007and a member of AJA since the beginning of 2008.

Marcia Graham

Marcia Graham
Assistant Secretary
Marcia currently works as a Petition /Para Legal
with a prominent law firm in Atlanta which
specializes in Bankruptcy Law. Originally from
St. Mary, Jamaica, she relocated to Montego Bay
where she worked as an Administrative Assistant in
the tourism and legal sectors. For over
ten years.
She was an active member of the Jamaica JAYCEES and
served as the Secretary of the
Montego Bay local Chapter. Marcia was
also active in the Jamaica Junior Chamber of
Commerce and became State Secretary of the Chamber
before being elevated to the rank of Vice President.
Since migrating to Atlanta in 1991, Marcia has
become involved in the work of several
organizations. She takes special pride in
being a member of the Atlanta Jamaican Association,
where one of her main focus is membership. She
is the owner of two businesses one provides
janitorial services, while the other provides a wide
variety of types of flooring for her customers.
Marcia holds a Bachelors Degree in business
administration from Phoenix University and an
Associate Degree in Para Legal Studies. She
is a Notary Public for Clayton County.
She has three children including an adult son who
currently resides in Hawaii.

Granville Saunders |
Granville Saunders
Treasurer
Hailing from the hills of St Andrew, Granville Saunders is a graduate of the Mico
Teachers College in Kingston. After graduation he spent six years, which he describes
as his most gratifying years, in the Secondary school system during which time he
achieved the status of Senior Teacher and served as head of the Industrial Arts
and Art departments. Granville migrated to the United States and resided in Connecticut
for 8 years. He holds a Bachelors degree in Engineering from Central Connecticut
State University. He also holds a Six Sigma Black Belt in Project Management and
is a lead Engineer in the nations number one lighting company. He has been a supporter
of the AJA since his arrival in Atlanta in 1983. He joined the organization in the
late eighties and served as treasurer for two terms beginning in 1995 and a third
term during Derrick Harvey's administration, 2002-2003.
Asked what is his vision of the organization, his reply, "the envy of all local
nonprofit organizations and the acquisition of a permanent meeting place"

George Aird
Assistant Treasurer
George Aird is currently a banker with a local Community Bank and has worked in
the financial services industry for over thirty years. Work related experience in
Jamaica includes; National Meteorological Service(Weather Radar Operator), Jamaica Mutual Life(Life Underwriter), Life of Barbados Ja, Ltd.(Principal Officer).
Since relocating to the US in the mid 1980,s, George has worked in various positions
with major financial services corporations in NY,Fl and Ga .
George was born in Hanover and is a graduate of Rusea's High School. He is also
a Chartered Life Underwriter, and a graduate of the Caribbean Meteorological Institute(Barbados),
Life Management Institute(Atlanta), and Mercer University's Stetson School of
Business & Economics(Atlanta). A former Vice President of Rusea's Old Students
Assoc.(Florida), George currently serves as a Welcome Minister at Sts Peter and
Paul Catholic church in Decatur. George is married with three adult children.

Winston Henry |
Winston Henry
Parliamentarian
Winston is currently a Mechanical Engineer, specializing in Packaging Machinery,
with a food packaging company in Atlanta . Originally from St. Ann, Jamaica , Winston
graduated from York Castle High school in Browns Town.
He worked with Barclays Bank Jamaica before attending the College of Arts , Science
and Technology (now U-Tech) to earn a Diploma in Mechanical Technology. Winston
then worked with Reynolds Jamaica Mines for two years and then went on to attend
Penn State University . Winston graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology
(R.I.T) with a Bs in Mechanical Technology.
Winston is married to Joycelyn, has three young adult children, and is a member
of the Greenforest Community Baptist Church .

Robert is a high school English teacher in Clayton County. He was elected Teacher of the Year for North Clayton High School for 2007/2008
Formerly a student of Oberlin High School and Cornwall College, He moved to Toronto after high school. He has lived in the Bronx, Brampton (Ontario) and Montreal and moved to the Atlanta area in 1994. Robert holds degrees from City College of New York (B.A), University of Toronto (B.Ed.), Brock University (Ontario) (M.Ed.) and Georgia State University (Ed.S). .
He lives in Stockbridge, Georgia, with his wife, Annemarie and son, Cameron.

Astley Leslie
Trustee
Astley is a certified Conflict Resolution Specialist registered with the Georgia
Office of Dispute Resolution. He is a founding member of the Association for Conflict
Resolution - Georgia Chapter He previously served as Permanent Secretary
in the Jamaica Ministry of Social Security and the Ministry of Labor before
joining the International Labor Organization - an agency of the United Nations Organization - to establish, and develop over a fifteen year period, the Caribbean Labor Administration
Center in Barbados.;
Astley joined the Atlanta Jamaican Association in 1993, served as its President
in 1995 and from 1997 to 2000 and chaired its Constitution Committee in 2005 and
2006. He was instrumental in revising and updating the By Laws of the Association.
These revised By Laws were adopted by the quarterly members meeting held in January
2007. He is a founding member of the Sugar Canes - a Jamaican folk
singing group established in Atlanta to promote the Jamaican culture He is currently
serving as a Trustee of the Association for the second consecutive year.
Astley holds the degrees of Bachelor of Science(Economics) and Master of Science
(Personnel and Employment Relations). He is married and has two grown daughters.
